A brainchild of Col. David Bamigboye, the then Military Governor of Kwara State, the Polytechnic sprouted as an idea during the unveiling of a four-year development plan in 1971. The following year, the Kwara State Edict no. 4 laid the cornerstone for its foundation, which has since evolved through various legislative amendments.
