Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Program for 2024

The Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Program aims to establish a network of young people and institutions driving inclusive and fair socioeconomic development across Africa.

About Mastercard Foundation Scholarship

Since its inception in 2012, the Program has assisted around 40,000 young Africans in pursuing secondary or tertiary education.

African youth and academics are conscious of the need to address systemic barriers to higher education, develop capacity, support innovative approaches in critical industries, and connect ecosystem actors in order to have a greater impact on the continent.

The Program works to establish the conditions necessary for young people to acquire an inclusive and relevant education, move quickly into respectable and satisfying jobs, and lead transforming lives.

They work together on this with students, colleges, NGOs, and other higher education stakeholders.

Who is Eligible for this Scholarship?

To be eligible to apply for an undergraduate (bachelor’s) degree, applicants must be less than 29 years old. At the time of application, candidates for graduate (master’s) degrees must be 35 years of age or younger.

Each university also has its own admission requirements. Before submitting an application, carefully review the institution’s application requirements.
Before you Apply

1. Study the eligibility criteria, demands, due dates, and other application guidelines on the program website of the university of your choice.

2. Select the school and program you want to apply to. You can apply to as many institutions as you like, but you should be aware that putting together an application package requires a lot of work.

3. Prepare the paperwork needed for submission. Each institution has a different set of requirements for supporting documentation as part of the application process.

The late submission of a document will result in an incomplete application.

4. Before starting your application, take the relevant tests if you need to. For each applicant to be qualified for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, they must first meet the university’s admissions requirements.

5. Some colleges may require all prospective international students to take exams like the SAT, TOEFL, or IELTS. Other university partners do not require these.

6. Obtain references. Universities commonly want letters of recommendation. Before you apply, seek advice from someone who is familiar to you, such as a teacher, mentor, or local authority.

7. Some institutions require the recommendation to be submitted online. It is the applicant’s responsibility to inform references about the online application in this case.
When Applying

1. Obey the directions for submitting an application to the university program. Some partners only accept online applications, whereas others only accept paper applications.

2. Don’t submit your application the day before the deadline by keeping in mind the deadline.

Verify the information in your application packet to ensure that you have included all required documentation. Late or incomplete applications won’t be taken into consideration by the Scholars Program.

How to Apply to the Scholars Program

The Scholars Program is carried out through partner universities and non-governmental organizations.

Each partner oversees the application process and makes their own decisions. If you want to be a scholar, you must apply through the university of your choice.

Partner organizations set their own entry costs and requirements. They suggest that you contact the university of your choosing or research the application requirements for further information.

All application fees that the school collects as part of the admissions process will be reimbursed to students if they are selected for the Scholars Program.
