Who is Eligible to Apply to Ignite?
Eligible candidates include current full-time undergraduate and graduate students, alumni of Teach For America, and past Ignite Fellows.
To qualify, a minimum GPA of 2.5 is required (or a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 for college freshmen).
Applicants must also have the legal right to work in the United States, meaning they must be U.S. citizens, nationals, legal permanent residents, or recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
International students on work visas are not eligible for this opportunity.
What Does the Ignite Admissions Team Look for in an Applicant?
Willingness to collaborate with K-8 students to foster a positive influence on their learning, development, and sense of belonging.
Demonstrated interest in and understanding of Teach For America’s mission. Awareness of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles.
Knowledge and passion for addressing educational inequality. Proof of meeting commitments and possessing effective organizational abilities.
Capacity to engage in training, onboarding, and fellowship preparation before commencing tutoring with students.
Dedication to successfully conclude the entire Ignite fellowship during the semester.
When Does the Ignite Fellowship Take Place?
The Fall Fellowship spans from September 18th to December 15th, 2023. It commences with a two-week period of both synchronous and asynchronous training starting on September 18th.
The actual tutoring sessions with students start during the week of October 2nd and conclude on December 18th, 2023.
As for the Spring Fellowship, it takes place from February 5th to May 3rd, 2024.
The fellowship begins with a two-week synchronous and asynchronous training period, commencing on February 3rd. Tutoring sessions with students start during the week of February 19th and wrap up on May 3rd, 2024.

The Fellowship is conducted in a virtual format and is currently operational in approximately 90 schools spread across 28 Teach For America communities.

It’s important to note that all engagements are conducted online, and the schools in these regions have already been preselected; there are no in-person opportunities available.
