Prof Is- Haq Oleyede the registrar of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announce that students has to develop and build their digital skills and competence in order to excel in the 21st centaury.
Oloyede made this speech on Thursday at the opening ceremony of the 2023 JAMB Computer Base Text (CBT) meeting in Abuja. He also said that digital literacy is not about using technology, but being able to perform critical function and effectiveness in digital environment.
Oloyede added that digital literacy is a mindset and attitude, not just a skills set, and that students are expected to be flexible, adaptive learners to maintain relevant digital skills skills. Jamb is committed for promoting digital literacy among students and candidate, also board has adopt several measures to enable that its examinations are well conducted in a conducive and transparent environment manner using CBT.
Oloyede said that the board has new development such as the National Identification Number (NIN) requirement the use of biometric verification and the use (AI) to detect malpractice. He also commended the CBT center proprietors for their co-operation with JAMB and also encourage to uphold the highest standard of quality and integrity in their operation and also the board will not hesitate to sanction any center that violate the rules and regulation of JAMB, and that the board should monitor and audit the activities of all center.
Oloyede advise to all candidate to prepare adequately for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) which is schedule to hold in June. and also developing digital skills will not only help students to excel in JAMB but also to pursue the academic career in future.
